They say that real beauty is more than skin deep, but contrary to what others might think, it should be both inside and out. Genuine elegance and grace must be present internally and on the outside, and there are no ifs or buts. Just like the world-famous Eclat Jewels, whose company philosophy includes the belief that the quality of the gem stones that they use must also be within the highest quality of design sophistication because every jewelry piece it creates must be splendidly unique. To achieve this non-compromising level of excellence, the company’s master jewelry makers travel the whole world extensively to procure only the rarest, most exquisite of stone on earth. And from these rare raw materials, Eclat master craftsmen allow every stone govern the design process to best secure their natural elegance and uniqueness—making every jewelry piece as special as the individual wearing it.
Eclat is available at Shreve & Co. on Post Street, San Francisco and in Palo Alto, California.
Mark Twain once said that kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. Although meant for humans, people must treat everyone and everything with kindness and consideration to make this world a better place. The same mindset and intention are likely among the pillars that guided Furrer- Jacot to be among the leading jewelry makers for over one and a half centuries now. In fact, the Swiss firm contends that gemstones such as diamonds should never just be placed in any position when making a jewelry piece. These precious stones actually deserve a better treatment—that they should be set in the same angle directions, preferably by hand, undergoing a most meticulous, highly detailed process, to bring out their ultimate scintillation, brilliance and beauty.
Furrer-Jacot is available at Shreve & Co. on Post Street, San Francisco and in Palo Alto, California and Portland, Oregon.
Alexander Pope once said, “To err is human, to forgive divine.” Indeed, nobody is perfect, man is bound to commit mistakes, but it doesn’t mean nothing is. Just like Fire & Ice by Forevermark, every jewelry piece is created to achieve perfection which is achieved mainly because of its unparalleled design and manufacturing standards and procedures. Diamonds are said to be perfect when they observe three things—scintillation, fire, and brilliance—and these are lost unfortunately when they are cut too deep or spread too shallow to preserve the original weight and natural structure. A Fire & Ice Diamond is cut explicitly cut at only a set of accurate angles and proportions to magnify the radiance and scintillation that rise from the stone’s tip.
Get your own Fire & Ice by Forevermark and have your own diamond pieces with perfect, rich display of scintillation, fire, and brilliance. Checkout them out at Shreve & Co. on Post Street, San Francisco and in Palo Alto, California
Among all jewelry and fashion luminaries that graced the recent 2016 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, Fred Leighton simply stood out from the rest by a clear distance. The jewelry designer’s awesome creations were worn by no less than a handful of superstars including Katy Perry, Naomi Watts, Mary-Kate Olsen, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tory Burch, Kerry Washington, Mia Wasikowska and Dakota Fanning. These celebrities sauntered the red carpet in their usual elegance and style, greatly accented, of course, by the elegant and stunning pieces by Fred Leighton—expressing in a grand manner that sophistication, design, and charm of vintage jewelry is never bounded by time and place. This year’s event was dubbed as "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, an exhibition exploring the role that technology played in the fashion industry.

A true jewelry aficionado will never be satisfied unless she or he is able to not just see and wear a particular jewelry but also will know or told how each elegant piece is created. And perhaps among those few exceptional jewelry makers that warrant a closer look, when it comes to observing the strictest and most demanding, traditional jewelry making craftsmanship that had been developed, perfected and observed for over half a millennium, is Harry Kotlar. In this ultramodern time and age, no new technology can surpass the intricate artisanship that Harry Kotlar employs in every jewelry piece it creates, proving that jewelry must and should transcend time. Everything is done by the adroit hands and minds of expert company artisans, from the forging, to the carving, and polishing, all done within the proven Harry Kotlar tradition. The result—the perpetual Harry Kotlar elegance and perfection.

Breitling had just reinvented one of its popular models and come up with the new Chronoliner, boasting of its sophisticated ceramic bezel in a black steel casing, with a coordinating dial, black steel casing, and rubber stap. The revised version is simply a handsome and high-tech livery for a genuine flight captain's timepiece. The new Chronoliner Blacksteel is basically a triple timezone chronograph, which Breitling says got inspiration from a 1950s timepiece and thoroughly revised for an elegant all-black new ensemble, highlighting its iconic and enduring style. To preserve long-held traditions in aviator timepieces, the silver and white indications were legibly set against the dark background, and to further ensure maximum clarity, the oversized hour markers and hands are luminescent. All functions, including flight time measurement and tri-timezone feature, are assuredly and precisely powered by a COSC-certified self-winding chronograph movement chronometer.
Breitling is available at Shreve & Co. on Post Street, San Francisco.
Time and again, the exquisite Spanish firm Carrera y Carrera’s unparalleled passion to create breathtaking works of art in every jewelry piece continues to capture everyone’s heart. Take for instance the new El Retiro Collection, whose astounding pieces drew inspiration from the fascinating tale of the garden of the four seasons, which tells of the beautiful romance between two 19th century lovers, now brought into new light through magnificent pieces that integrate heritage, savoir-faire, and fervor. For winter, the Invierno pieces showcase how diamonds and white gold frolic under the glare of the Madrid sun and how the winter cold change dew into frost in the leaves, thus creating a radiantly white Spanish horizon. The rest of the collection include Primavera (for spring), Verano (for summer), and Otoño (for fall), which all feature similarly-astounding creations from Carrera Y Carrera.

Watches are made not only to keep or tell the present time but, in fact, are also meant to capture moment of the past. This is likely the inspiration behind Bell & Ross’ Vintage military collection, which are designed to commemorate the earliest wristwatches used by pilots during the 1920s. Take for instance, the iconic pilot’s watch, the Bell & Ross WW1-92 Military watch, which was inspired by genuine military instruments of yesteryears. Looking at this watch can truly turn back the hands of time as it features Arabic numbers with a photo-flourescent coat, a black dial with silver hands, with time elements set apart to allow easy time reading, and the distinctive fluorescent triangle at 12 o'clock, which helps pilots to immediately achieve balance while in flight.

When you have given your partner all the expensive jewelry pieces around, it is difficult to think of what to give next. Not another solitaire diamond ring, which she has a dozen already. As it becomes harder to impress her with the next jewelry gift ideas, you can go for a signature renowned for being unique and luxurious. The Wellendorff Purple Ring features spinning rings that add a different allure to her collection. Consider its 18k gold and diamonds crafted in cold enamel. The spinning motion adds an elegant conversation piece for your lady. It has three lanes of moving element that mesmerize anyone who looks at it. If not the Magic Purple, you can select the Purple Wings, a more down-to-earth version, yet still impresses gawking eyes.

Picking the right jewelry for your loved one isn’t all about luxury or trying to impress her with the most expensive piece. Although this is a good tactic if you have the resources, don’t just settle for the price as your basis of a diamond jewelry gift. More importantly, the jewelry should stand for something, a meaning that the two of you share. It can be a solitaire diamond that represents your one true love, or a sterling silver that exudes her uncomplicated lifestyle. It can also be a signature that you already have—an A. Jaffe, for instance—and now you want her to own one, too. Pairing jewelry is an age-old practice that need not to be explained: it’s a testament of two souls sharing something in common.
A. Jaffe is available at Shreve & Co. on Post Street, San Francisco and in Palo Alto, California.
There are many factors to consider when buying a formal watch. Watch signatures like on A. Lange & Sohne is more than just a device that tells time; it is a lifestyle symbol that tells much about the owner. Dress watches exude a formal, corporate ambiance. Those who wear these are likely attuned to cultural things. On the other hand, sports watches represent people who love outdoor activities. These people are seen as outgoing and risk takers. Exclusive signatures are reserved for men who occupy an important position. They can be CEOs or business owners. There’s so much one can showcase to others by simply wearing the right watch. So, when buying one make sure it matches your style and personality.

Or, you can go for something innocent—butterflies, frogs, and baby shoes. Here’s an idea: give your daughter an Aaron Basha charm every time she reaches a milestone from her tweener days to becoming a lovely lady.

Vacheron Constantin is one of the more renowned dress watch brands today and one of its favorite models is the 41mm Patrimony Traditionnelle Self-Winding. It has a 21st-Century appeal, while remaining elegantly conservative. One distinct feature is its ultra-thin calibre 1120, which is one of the three movements prized by watch collectors (the other two being, 920 and 2120). The Vacheron Constatin watch is also noted for helping generate a new Geneva Hallmark standard. The hallmark guarantees that the watch is assembled in the Canton of Geneva in Switzerland, and that the watch bear its unique production number. Other notable features of this watch include: the razor sharp look of the hands; reliable self-winding feature; and its discreet elegance, not too opulent to draw attention and not to boringly common.

The Sloane Street Caviar Collection is arguably the jewelry signature’s most impressive line. No two pieces are exactly alike, the jeweler claims. What makes the collection even more luxurious is the colorful play of the gemstones and how they are interwoven in the caviar pattern. The use of the name “caviar” itself suggests that this collection is reserved only for the most opulent customers. Incidentally, ever wonder why caviar, the fish egg concoction, is expensive? It’s because the fish used—the sturgeon—is sensitive to handle and it produces at a slower rate compared to other fishes. Likewise, sturgeons are illegal to fish in the Caspian Sea, the main source of caviar, so raw ingredients are rare. And although there are cheaper caviar alternatives already, they don’t have the glitz of buying the genuine article. Much like the Sloane Street Caviar, right?

The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Bronze has been recently released by the company and, immediately, critics take note of the vintage-looking diver’s watch. Its innovative design is said to be the latest in Tudor’s evolution, while the overall style still maintains the heritage of the brand. Likewise, reviews point out the thoughtful details given to the design. It has a 1.7-inch case of bronze alloy. Unlike standard bronze that show a patina over time, Tudor uses a specially heated bronze-aluminum alloy with a brushed finish to achieve a balanced color. The beauty of bronze, according to Sven Olsen, general manager of Tudor UK, is that it will develop a vintage hue uniquely for different wearers. "The key ingredient that affects the metal is the acid in your skin, meaning each watch will become slightly different,” he said.
Tudor is available at Shreve & Co. on Post Street, San Francisco and in Palo Alto, California.
Steven Kretchmer has a proprietary mounting technique called Tension-Set, which the jeweler claims makes stone mounting stronger. Likewise, the mounting process is also said to expose the diamond to more light, hence, giving the stone more radiance. So, how does this technique work? Instead of the traditional use of wires in prone settings, Tension-Set uses a compression force of 12,000 pounds per square inch to secure the stone on the mount. Specially heat-treated metal alloys, a trade secret by Steven Kretchmer, are said to hold the stone in place, and will not require regular tightening schedule. The Tension-Set patent also makes the jewelry piece comfortable to wear, avoiding scratching and clothe catching. Tension mounting is only available to Steven Kretchmer, which holds the exclusive global patent.

Suna Bros. has one of the most elegant collections of earrings that can lighten up your outfit. It’s a pity though if you don’t know how to pair earrings with the dress, so here are a few tips to maximize the glitz of a Suna Bros. pair of earrings. Wear the earrings in front of the mirror. This way, you can clearly see what other people will be seeing once you have the earrings. Is it any good? Ask a trusted friend for her opinion. Preferably, a friend with a fashion taste you admire. Match the color of the earrings with the color of your dress. It can be the same color 100% or within the same shade or hue range. Your earrings can also be a complimentary accent to your dress.
