Check in your circle of friends who wear a watch and most likely you’ll notice only a handful do. The advent of smartphones and tablets make little room to actually need a watch these days, when you can simply check the time (and more aside) using your mobile. This trend leads some observers to claim watches are on the demise. They’re right and wrong. Fewer people do wear watch today, but those who do, often, are wearing fashionable brands. In short, generic watches are on the way out; but for “cool” and luxury watch brands, people wear them as a fashion statement or social status. Brands like Bell & Ross, a creative take on a cockpit instrument, are valued for their signature and the extra ego they give to one’s self-esteem.
Bell & Ross is available at Shreve & Co. in Post Street, San Francisco.
