Trying to feign luxury may border to the ridiculous. Take Stuart Hughes’ iPhone 5 in solid gold frame and encrusted with 600 brilliant diamonds at its side. The home button takes the cake, a huge 26k black diamond, putting this unit as the world’s most expensive smartphone at $15.9 million. Then there’s the Vertu Constellation for only $6,600. It’s made of titanium with the back panel covered in calf leather. It features a 4.3-inch sapphire crystal and a Snapdragon Qualcomm CPU with 32GB storage. You don’t need all these features, but the phone sure makes you appear opulent, which is unfortunate because it also makes you look ridiculous. If luxury is truly your aim, go for diamond jewelries like a Mémoire. They’re lavish, while they give you an air of sophistication. That’s the luxury you should afford.
Mémoire is available at Shreve & Co. in Palo Alto, California.
