If you have the penchant for Asian designs and are adamant about the environment’s future, there is no brand more perfect than John Hardy. Taking inspirations from Bali in the mid 70’s, company founder John Hardy infused the island’s traditional jewelry making traditions with new design concepts. What resulted was magic and since 1996 Mumbai, Bali became the company’s production center where everything is created. And in 1999, there came a wonderful addition to the company in the person of Guy Bedarida – senior designer of haute joaillerie of the Place Vendome. He came in as Head Designer and broadened John Hardy’s design concepts with the inclusion of new nature-inspired motifs, European jewelry techniques, and ancient East Asian art. And just like Asian architecture and living, the company has exerted a behemoth effort to become carbon neutral. With the slogan “Greener Every Day”, John Hardy continues to make their processes greener. In 2006, John Hardy launched its “Sustainable Advertising” program. Baume & Mercier has established itself to be the leading brand in producing sporty chronographs. It is part of the Richemont group along with Cartier and Piaget. Baume & Mercier became one of the most sought out brands as it maintains a close relationship with the customers; and also being the producer of iconic luxury watches of aesthetic elegance, charm and excellence. In 1964, Baume & Mercier took on the PHI symbol for its brand identity. This represented the golden proportion from antiquity. A Jaeger LeCoultre timepiece is built on the tradition of the founder’s brilliant inventions and craftsmanship. The Swiss manufacturer of high-end watches and clocks traces its roots to a small workshop in Le Sentier, Switzerland that started crafting high-caliber timepieces in 1833. Antoine LeCoultre was an image of man driven by his quest to create the most perfectly calibrated movement. He was the first to measure the micrometer in 1844, and devised the world’s first millionmeter, which made it possible for watchmakers to measure a thousandth of a millimeter, a precursor to precision engineering. Three years hence, he developed a push-piece that could shift a lever from one function to another, eliminating the need for keys to set and rewind watches. He was also recognized at the 1851 Universal Exhibition in London for his precision and mechanization achievements. Since then, using mechanized systems in manufacturing watches, LeCoultre developed a wide range of timepiece calibers that produced highly precise chronographs and repeater mechanisms. The company was even a back-end manufacturer for other renowned timepiece signatures in the pre-World War II decades. Today, LeCoultre watches are known for its state-of-the-art technologies from cutting and rolling to electroplating, case polishing and decorating to manufacturing dials, skeletons, casing, calibration and engraving. The result is no less than a Jaeger LeCoultre that has defined time-keeping as a high-end science as it is an art.

Telling the perfect time is an obsession that humanity will never grow out of. It is by this tendency that we have created technology that is only apparent in our species. And for a long time, one brand has been at the forefront of this obsession. Breitling. Since 1884, Leon Breitling opened a small workshop that specialized in chronographs. With stern will and dedication, Breitling became a companion to the world’s long history of aviation where accuracy and reliability are most important. Having started supplying for the Royal Air Force in 1936, Breitling continues the tradition of precision in the early 1950s as Boeing, Lockheed and Douglas chose Breitling cockpit clocks; and so did 25 more airlines. In 1952, the Navitimer was born. This was the go-to wrist instrument for pilots being equipped with a circular slide rule or a “navigation computer”. A space venturing version of this Navitimer was made and on May 24, 1962, astronaut Scott Carpenter was the first to try this new invention aboard the Aurora 7 space capsule. If you’re a spaceman or a pilot, a Breitling is the best companion. But if you want to just sport one of the most accurate pieces in the world for the prestige or for whatever reasons you might posses, no one can say otherwise. For Breitling pieces, visit Shreve & Co. – authorized dealer for Breitling.

All the best stories started out with a crisis. Parmigiani Fleurier’s isn’t any different. In 1974, Michel Parmigiani had just graduated college to face an unprecedented fall of the Swiss watch industry. Thanks to the influx of quartz movements coming in from Japan. Swiss watchmakers were oblivious and didn’t see it coming. The quartz crisis came to full effect and wiped out 90,000 jobs. But despite of the situation and the seemingly impendent doom, Michel Parmigiani moved forward with his plans against the views of many; against the odds. With a passion for restoration, he started a company to do such that. It was called the Mesure et Art du Temps. On the side, in his small workshop, he manufactures unique pieces for collectors. He was playful with his mastery of mechanical complications. It took people, important people, to notice his brilliance and skill. It was then that he was pushed to create his own brand and make his vision a reality. From then on, Michel Parmigiani and the Parmigiani Fleurier brand took form and began putting wings into their dreams of creating mechanical feats of beauty and art. Just after a few years, Parmigiani Fleurier has created seventeen calibers in-house, produced six collections, and four world-firsts. And staying true to its restoration passion, Parmigiani Fleurier helped brought back the love for traditionally Swiss-made mechanical watches. For your Parmigiani Fleurier timepiece, visit Shreve & Co. – authorized dealer for Parmigiani Fleurier.

The International Watch Company (IWC) is named the International Watch Company for a reason. And that reason is that they make some of the best darn watches in the world. When luxury watches is the game, IWC is a superstar that connoisseurs and enthusiasts recognize. In 1986, Florentine Ariosto Jones, the American engineer and watchmaker, founded the International Watch Company. Recognizing the Swiss leadership in craftsmanship and the American leadership in modern technology, he mixed the best of both worlds and ended up as one of the leading innovators in the industry. To this day, IWC is a historical brand. It remains the only watch factory in East Switzerland that is operational to this day. IWC has maintained its vision to create few watches for small numbers of discerning people that value quality more than anything else. This is the same reason that IWC watches last for decades. IWC items continue to be rare pieces of mechanisms that are only fetched by true connoisseurs throughout the planet. Jaeger-LeCoultre is known to produce some of the best watches in the world. But little do know that this high-end luxury watch and clock maker has also manufactured movements and parts for other prominent watch companies in Switzerland. The founding of Jaeger-LeCoultre rested on the shoulders of a thirty-year-old man named Antoine LeCoultre, son of Vallee de Joux watchmaker Jacques LeCoultre. He followed his father’s footsteps and he not only proved to be a gifted watchmaker but also as a brilliant inventor. Antoine LeCoultre revolutionized the whole industry in 1844 by inventing the millionometer, a device that calculates up to one thousandths of a millimeter accurately. Because of such invention, time keeping was vastly improved. This measurement enabled the metric system to be the universal standard in watch-making. The merger with Edmond Jaeger, the exclusive supplier of watch movements for Cartier, proved fruitful with more technological advances that follow. One innovation that was prompted was a case made from stainless steel. It was also Jaeger-LeCoultre that created the world’s smallest mechanical movement which weighs less than a gram. Owning a Jaeger-LeCoultre is no shame at all. In fact it is a privilege. Whether you own a piece in the Master Control series or the most popular Reverso, you have become a part of a storied brand with traditions that blossomed from genius. “Accuracy in Adverse Conditions” – this is the motto that has set the ball rolling for Ball Watch. This corporate mission attends to those individuals are not just on-the-go, but those that are truly working, living and playing in difficult conditions in the planet. Accuracy is hard to achieve and Ball Watches rarely falter as they are equipped with the patented BALL-engineered self-powered micro gas light technology. This lights ups brightly for at least 25 years. Ball Watches also come in 7,500 G force shock resistance and a -40 degree Celsius temperature rating, and a patented crown protection system to boot. The founder Webb Clay Ball became the vice-president of the Hamilton Watch Company and focused his efforts to develop tellers of time for railroads. This was inspired by a collision between trains in Kipton, Ohio. This was all caused by the stopping of the engineer’s watch. The railroad officials commissioned Webb C. Ball to be their Chief Time Inspector. And from this day on, his quest of the precision is being continued by the company he started. For accurate watches that function under adverse conditions, visit Shreve & Co. – authorized dealer for Ball Watch.

Diamonds are a woman’s best friend. And one thing that makes a diamond desirable is its brilliance. And what diamond can shine brighter than A. Link’s? By just requiring the minimum light available, A. Link’s signature 60/60 cut diamonds can sparkle in the dark. These stones are of 58 to 61 percent table sizes with depth percentages of 59 to 61. These percentages average a 60/60 that provides the alluring effects. These diamonds are meant to last forever as heirlooms; brilliant ones that can be passed on from generation to generation just like A. Link, the brand itself. A. Link is not just a business but a culture of expertise and perfection that was passed on from generation to generation. With many heirlooms to choose from different collections, one can be sure that any piece can be mesmerizingly simple, elegant and brilliant. This is evident in the Double Layered Collection as rows of diamonds, separated by rows of smaller diamonds, create not bracelets and necklaces of diamonds but “sheets” of diamonds. The effect renders the settings invisible enabling the sparkle of the rocks to arrest the eyes. If brilliance in the priority, there is no better choice than A. Link. For more of head-turning A. Link collections, visit Shreve & Co. – authorized dealers for A. Link.

Born in The North Shoe of Long Island, New York, Penny Preville designed her first jewelry as a teenager. It was a set of Sterling Silver star earrings. This wasn’t too farfetched for Penny as she grew up in a creative and artistic environment. Her grandmother was an artist and her mother was an interior designer. Jewelry was the form she chose to express herself. Or maybe it was Jewelry that chose her. As a fan of fashion and culture, Penny acknowledges that these are changing and changing fast but she puts value in continuity, of staying true to oneself. And continuity is something she strives to achieve and has found success in. A Penny Preville piece will always speak luxury and femininity. Penny Preville’s style achieves balance between innovation, fashion, elegance and “wearability”. Like the maker, the pieces are a unique balance of influences spanning from family to art history. The creativity in the family and her penchant for art history brings pieces that are truly Penny Preville – truly for sophisticated women. Armed with aircraft grade visual indicators, highly précised Swiss movements, and optimal water resistance, Bell & Ross watches have been in demand since launched in 1992. Bell & Ross prides itself with the special functions for specific tasks. The BR Instrument was made to mimic the shape of a cockpit instrument of an aircraft. BR02’s cater to diving professionals. It is 1000 meters submersible and is fitted with clear dials for safety. One special feature that stands out is Hydromax—contains hydraulic fluids to offset effects of outside pressures. There are three collections available; the Vintage, Aviation, and the Marine. The name gives out the concept of these collections as Vintage watches are odes to military watches back in World War I & II, Aviation watches are for pilots and can withstand high altitude, and the Marine collection are for profession divers and seafarers. This variety of designs gives anyone a chance to find a watch that speaks to them and can represent them well to the world. Originally, Breitling was intended by the owner to tell time for industrial and scientific applications. In 1954 the Breitling Navitimer has been created. It was a wrist instrument having a navigation computer. This piece became the go-to piece among pilots around the world. During that time as well, Breitling has been manufacturing cockpit clocks for international airlines. In 1962, the Breitling Cosmonaute chronograph was worn by the astronaut Scott Carpenter in his orbital flight aboard the Aurora 7. With these feats and avant-garde engineering and design, Breitling has been moving forward since its inception in 1884 in Saint-Imier. Another brand joins Breitling as it shares the same quest for innovation and style. Bentley. With the same heritage and pedigree of excellence, the two brands pursue a unity of both elegance and expertise; the marriage of Swiss heritage and British chic that connoisseurs will love. Breitling for Bentley joins the other collections like the Professional Series and the Navitimer Series in continuing to carry the Breitling brand to those sophisticated and privileged enough to appreciate fine mechanical art pieces.
